Things that go Tweet in the Yard

Lets face it, three year olds are scaredy cats. All my boys have gone through it, they turn three and become more aware of the world it's wonders and also it's dangers and suddenly everything has to be categorized as friend or foe. With Benjamin it was sounds, we spent a night at a cabin when he was three. We were sleeping in a warm upstairs room and had opened the window, there was a babbling brook outside that I found rather pleasant, to Benjamin it was a screaming stream bent on his destruction. Every 20 minutes all night long he would grab me in panic and ask,"Whats that sound!" For Isaac it was the smoke alarm in the hall, it scared him so bad that he wouldn't even walk down the hall alone for a few weeks. They've all had their little three year old fears some amusing some understandable but Adam takes the cake.

Yesterday he went out to play in the sandbox a minute later he came running into the house, slammed the door, and threw himself into my arms screaming, "they're gonna get me!"

"Adam, what's going to get you" I asked, while trying to pry his arms off their strangle hold around my neck. This boy weighs four lbs. more then his five year old brother his favorite pass time is extreme wrestling with his dad, if his feet keep growing at their current rate in a couple of years well be able to tromp him barefoot through the Oregon woods and incite a Sasquatch fad. This kid is the king of tough I couldn't imagine what terrifying thing was in the yard to scare him.

"The bird's Mom, they're gonna get me!" The strangle hold tightens.

"What bird's?" I ask, Joseph, who has followed him in and is observing the whole thing with his usual stoic reaction, answers for him.

"Mom, it was just a bird, it hopped down on the fence."

"Was it a big black bird" I ask? Crows scare me a little, I could understand a crow.

"No just a little bird." Joseph says with a shrug, loses interest and goes back outside.

"Mom why is it getting me?" Adam asked.

"I think it was just hopping down to see what you were doing, I bet if you waved hello to it it would fly away." I gave him my best comforting mom hug and sent him back out.

A minute later he was back, freaking out about birds everywhere, and they were going eat him, no amount of logic could convince him that birds are our friends. He spent the rest of the day standing by windows, checking for birds too afraid to go outside. I spent the rest of the day laughing at him, feeling a little sad that this is my last scaredy cat three year old, and dreading the four year old 'nothing can hurt me' phase.

Eat Your Hearts Out Ladies

What woman doesn't dream of spending her day surrounded by handsome, adoring men? Ellen DeGeneres you say? well you've got me there. OK, so for the many women in this world who would love to spend their days being loved on by eight wonderful, albeit short(some of them) men; welcome to my life. Click on the picture to read Adams shirt.

This morning Adam climbs up to stand on the bar, "Mom I'm tall" he proudly tells me.
"Yes you are" I reply.
"Mom, I'm smart" he declares.
"Thats for sure" I nod.
"Mom, I'm naked" He yells.
"Tall, Smart and Naked, you're the man of my dreams".
"Mom, come closer and I can catch you" as he prepares to jump to me.

Eat you heart out ladies he's tall, smart and naked and he's all mine. Until he discovers real girls that is.

A while later Joseph walks in with a pair of son glasses on top of his head and asks,
"Mom, how do I look?"
"Like a handsome cool movie star!" I answer.
"Yep!" he says.

Thats my Joseph, strong, handsome, silent type. I'm a lucky women.

Adam Sings

Adam runs around singing I am a child of God constantly, despite the fact that half the time he acts... well, lets, just say that it's a good thing he has parents who are kind and dear. On the positive side I am felling much better and now will attempt to clean the huge mess that my house has become because I dared to get sick and let it go for three days. Lets face it, Moms don't get sick days. Ok I am to stupid to get the video right side up.

Adam Davinci

Adam has found his artistic side...it started with a marathon washer, dryer and wall writing session that started in the basement and ended in the kitchen. Adam got scolded, instructed to only write on paper and helped wash walls; this is all it took with my other children, not Adam.

He next found paper and drew on nearly every page in my primary binder and made a lovely picture on a sheet of choir music I had brought home to work on(When I sing I seek to blend in to the group as much as possible, won't I be lovely with my three year old decorated music). I guess I should have been more specific, I told him he had to ask Mom for the paper, I thought maybe he got it, he said, "Otay Mom." He didn't get it, we came home the other night to the Grandpa room (our name for our family room) walls covered with green marker pictures; this time Daddy got involved and yelled at Adam. Adam was so devastated that Daddy would yell at him that he ran to his room and cried for 20 minutes.

Next we found poor Buzz Light Year colored green I didn't bother with a lecture this time, I just tossed Buzz in the toy box, I figured it would give the other toys something to laugh about. Then Sunday morning I came home from an early meeting to discover Buzz, who had just recovered his voice from his last bath, washed clean; but, Adam's entire bed was decorated with lovely green scribbles, and his sheets, and his brothers bed, and the bedspreads. Again, as I washed the marker off his bed, I lectured him about paper and asking for Mom's help; I noticed he was very careful not to color on the walls... maybe we're getting through? I didn't have time to change the sheets before church and choir and a visit to Kaysville for a fun Christmas gathering with Richards, Uncle Dave and Aunt Linda, we got home late and put our sleepy boy in his bed. This morning when I got home from the gym I walked in the bedroom and found Adam, cuddled up with his Daddy, covered with marker, again! For a moment I panicked thinking perhaps he had got up in the night to add to his art work collection, no, just a transfer from his unchanged sheets.

Maybe this is how Leonardo got started?
