Eat Your Hearts Out Ladies

What woman doesn't dream of spending her day surrounded by handsome, adoring men? Ellen DeGeneres you say? well you've got me there. OK, so for the many women in this world who would love to spend their days being loved on by eight wonderful, albeit short(some of them) men; welcome to my life. Click on the picture to read Adams shirt.

This morning Adam climbs up to stand on the bar, "Mom I'm tall" he proudly tells me.
"Yes you are" I reply.
"Mom, I'm smart" he declares.
"Thats for sure" I nod.
"Mom, I'm naked" He yells.
"Tall, Smart and Naked, you're the man of my dreams".
"Mom, come closer and I can catch you" as he prepares to jump to me.

Eat you heart out ladies he's tall, smart and naked and he's all mine. Until he discovers real girls that is.

A while later Joseph walks in with a pair of son glasses on top of his head and asks,
"Mom, how do I look?"
"Like a handsome cool movie star!" I answer.
"Yep!" he says.

Thats my Joseph, strong, handsome, silent type. I'm a lucky women.

Super Hero Angst

Joseph, like most five year old boys, lives in a world of super heroes, at any given moment he may be Superman, Batman or Spiderman, he may be saving the world from bad guys or honing his super hero skills by running at supersonic speed from one end of the house to another. He is able to pick up cars, trains even toy tool benches with little effort; putting them back where he got them is still beyond his super powers that requires Supermom skills not Superman skills, but, you should see him climb the rock walls around the fireplace, amazing.

We all know that superhero's have a tortured past; some painful dark event that enhanced an awareness of their human vulnerability yet inspired the awareness and pursuit of their super-nature. I have been watching Joseph wondering what his pivotal moment might be.

Joseph loves to wear the costumes of his favorite heroes, most mornings he wakes up, get dressed, eats breakfast and puts on the costume of the day; unfortunately he is still forced to seek Mom's help to get in and out of most costumes. One day I heard Joseph running at super speed up the basement stairs, down the hall, through the kitchen, halfway down the grandpa room stairs where he tripped, skinned his elbow and knee, peed his pants and burst into tears.

Oh the humanity, foiled in the height of super growth by a villainous zipper in the back of his super suit. Will this dark moment dampen his heroic aspirations or lead him to greater heights of superness? The world must wait, wait with his anxious parents for the answer.

Fudge

Last night Joseph was sitting at the bar, OK on the bar, eating celery and carrots dipped in ranch dressing, watching me make minestrone soup for dinner. He watched seriously (Joseph does nearly everything seriously) while I prepared all the veggies and opened cans and added spices. Finally, he asked me "Mom, what are you making?"
I answered, "Soup for dinner."
He replied, seriously, "I'm not eating any."
Isaac walks in and asks, "Mom, what are you making?"
Joseph answers, very seriously, "Isaac, It's soup and don't touch any of it its got tons of vegetables in it."
Do you think I should tell Joseph that his favorite foods, celery and salad are vegetables? Me neither I think that will be my little secret for a few more years.

The soup was 'to die for', you can find it if you go to www.recipezaar.com/77585

So for those of you who 'don't touch anything with tons of vegetables in it', here is a veggie free recipe for fudge.

Fantasy Fudge
3 c. sugar
3/4 c. margarine
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 12 oz. package of s/sweet chocolate chips (nestle' is the best)
1 7 oz jar of marshmallow cream
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
1 t. vanilla

In a heavy sauce pan combine sugar, margarine and milk. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes over medium heat, stir, stir, stir. Remove from heat, add chocolate chips, stir until melted, add marshmallow cream, stir until well blended. Add nuts and vanilla stir until well blended. pour into a greased 13" x 9" pan. Cool at room temp. cut into squares. store covered.

Yummy, this is Richards favorite Christmas treat, I make a double batch, of course, and store it in the fridge in a large Tupperware.
