Today is cookie Friday at the smith house. I make cookies while the big boys are at school with my two little helpers. Then we make some plates to take to people we didn't get visiting or home taught or who whine if we don't and the boys get to come home to cookies and milk. I thought I would share the recipe each Friday.

Holiday M&M Cookies
1/3 c. Cocoa Powder
2 1/2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 c. Butter
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. Brown Sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. Semi-Sweet chocolate chips
2 c. mint chips or white chips or peanut butter chips
2 c. milk chocolate chips
1 bag holiday colored M&M's

In large bowl cream butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; add chips and M&M's mix in. Bake 350 for 12 min. do not over bake.

I make these for each holiday Christmas we use mint chips and red and green M&M's, Valentines, white chips and red, pink and white M&M's, St Patrick's day, mint chips and green M&M's and Easter or spring, pastel m&m's and mint chips, Forth of July, white chips and red white and blue m&m's , Autumn, halloween m&ms and peanut butter chips.
One year I bought a lot of Christmas M&M's after the holidays for a dollar a bag. I had great plans to separate them into red and green and use them for Valentines and St Patrick's days unfortunately they were gone before New Years. Oh well!

I am planning to take my camera to Joshua's game tomorrow morning so I can add some football pictures next week.
I made it to the gym three days in a row this week good thing because all I ate today was cookies.

Day two

Wow, I can't believe how much fun I had setting up my blog yesterday. I didn't get much else done and I had to send the url three times to the one person I sent it to. Maybe my typing skills will improve as time progresses. Last night Joshua had a football game he had a good game. He is learning so much and improving every week. Grandma and Grandpa came and got to burst a few buttons. Josh plays inside linebacker and fullback and is on all the kicking teams; he never leaves the field the whole game. I ask him to bring his pants up so I could wash them before the game. He informed me that if he had a bad game or they lost that it was my fault. I guess not washing your pants all season brings you luck??? When we got home at 10:15 Jacob had the kitchen clean and all the younger boys in bed. I have incredible boys.

In the beginning

My sister in law started a blog recently and when I finally found the time to read it I thought blogging looked like a good way to de-stress and save day-to-day memories. So here goes...hopefully I will be motivated to learn a few things about my computer and my digital camera. So far all I know about my digital camera is that my 15 year old son is way better at anything technological than I am but apparently as he informed me recently, " I'm going to move out in a few years Mom and you should get started now."
