Gaining New Societal Skills

I love it when my boys show me that they're learning the ins and outs of what is and isn't appropriate in social settings.

For instance, #7 my free spirited, naked, bohemian used to answer the call o' nature whenever and wherever the urge struck him with little regard for the sensibilities of innocent onlookers. But, yesterday as we walked from the kindergarten door, through the busy after school courtyard, around to the door #'s 5 and 6 leave by, #7 walked over to the brick school building and stood face first, very close to the wall.

"What's wrong, what are you doing?" I asked turning back.

Then I noticed the wet stain running down the side of the building.

Oh! The joy that swelled my soul as my big boy demonstrated that he is learning to cover up a bit when urinating in public.

And, of course, I did just what any socially savvy mother should in such a situation. I turned my back, continued my walk to the door whilst muttering in dulcet tones, "Whose child is that?"

Love those growing social skills!

You never fail to make me laugh! I am cracking up! My middle child did that once at church. I have never lived it down. And, for the record, Bruiser didn't cover his bum. Glad your did! ;0)

I love the fact that you didn't freakout. I would have. You are so calm.

Along with the other comments, we have had the church pee incident as well. Full monty on the lawn as everyone was leaving.

Definity a BOY thing.

Hilarious

YAY #7, that's a huge milestone!

I can't believe you got to #7 before you had to deal with this. I had to lecture Lion when he started kindy and then again this year to start school... We ONLY use the toilets... ONLY THE TOILETS.

Apparently the middle of our front yard with his pants around his ankles and his pale white butt (and other bits) there for all to see is still fine though... according to him. Hey, at least it was ONLY wee.
