Blog Envy

I've spent many hours over the last few days reading many wonderful blogs out there in the blogosphere. I am now suffering with a bad case of blog envy, So many of y'all have such amazingly written, designed, edited and illustrated blogs, that I'm a tiny bit jealous. I've been contemplating fitting a web design class, a writing workshop or two and some art and photography classes into my schedule. Ha, who am I kidding I still haven't even figured out how to link to words or url's on my site so I can share some of these fun blogs I've discovered with you.

Thanks to all who drop by, special thanks to those who comment.

I know what you mean...I can't figure out how to do that stuff either. But, you know how to draw a line through text and I want to know how to do that!! See, something so simple makes me JEALOUS! :)

You have a wonderful blog and I totally enjoy reading it. I've been a lurker reader for awhile now and decided it's time for me to come out! :) (Let me know if you can't figure out who this is! Come comment on my blog and say "who the heck are you???" Or you can just ask me on Sunday!)

Oh, and to link to words... all you do is highlight the word (s) and then click the little link icon (chain picture) and stick the url in the box. Easy peasy.

I get blog envy all the time too.

I read a lot of blogs while I was building my own. It took me a while to come up with how to project me on a page. I think with all advertising you have a 5 second window to catch someone's attention, so I looked for (Free!) backgrounds that fit my personality and were easy to read. I put a music player on the page (at the top so readers can shut it off right away if they don't like it), but I attempt to link up songs to posts, cause that's how quirky I am. I put links on my page that mean a lot to me, and I deleted every ad, because I didn't want to appear to be in it for the potential earnings; I just want to connect to moms like me.

Make a list of things you like on other blogs and a list of things you don't like on yours and slowly start to reverse the ratio. Rome wasn't built in a day you know. LOL.

Also, you have to drive people to your page. I found commenting on every single post of every blog I read brought people back to me, and linking up to blog carnivals like Works for Me Wednesdays brought readers over too.

I would love to take a photography or writing class, but I don't have the time or money. My blog is the one creative outlet I have that doesn't require gluesticks or playdough.

I am no blog mogul! I have a very small but faithful following, but I follow them too. Your post really touched my heart because I felt the Same Way just 2 months ago. Let me know if there's anything I can do. I don't think of blogs as popularity contests, just Moms sharing and helping, each other.

Blessings, Whitney

ugh. I can totally tell you how to do the linky thing, but stupid comments won't allow the computer lingo to go through on the comments. SOOoooo. Maybe I can do this as a post on my blog. I will try. If it doesn't go through, e-mail me and we can talk and get it over the phone if you wanna. It's fun! It's easy! It's looks hard, but after the first success it will be great!
