Mondays Muttered Mumblings

I worked at the hospital on Saturday, weird! The lights in the waiting rooms are kept off and many departments are closed. There was just one radiologist and two office people, everywhere I went things looked different, I got turned around and had to retrace my steps to find something familiar. It felt like the twilight zone.

Around 3:00 we needed some films from our storage area. I've only been to the storage area once but felt like the experience would be good training. The girl I was working with drew me a map to the building and the Saturday entrance just in case, uhhh, then she told me she would call if I was gone for too long, errr! I made it outside through the rain to the correct building, found the right halls and entered the storage facility. This building used to be a huge furniture store, part of it has been turned into an Insta Care, and offices. The room I was heading to says, Surplus, on the door, it is a huge room, two stories, with concrete walls and floors, chain link fence walls and metal stairs. The rooms are filled with old medical equipment, office furniture, boxes of who knows what, lots of locked garbage cans, shredding bins, and rows and rows, higher then my head, of old XRay films. Creepy!

I took a couple deep breaths and walked down the rows looking for the films I needed. I found them quickly, I was motivated to get the heck out of there! I tucked them under my arm and was heading out past all the creepy old stuff, when I noticed a box that said:

JERKY
Dog Treats

Made From
AMERICAN MEAT

What the... (sorry, I know it's not Friday, but this deserves a What the...) This is just not the box to have sitting on top of a locked garbage can, partially covered with plastic, in a creepy, American hospital surplus storage area.

Oooh, so glad you got out alive! I watch those TV shows... I know that people that go in those places alone don't come out. Although the pretty girl is usually safe, I guess that's why they sent you... they needed to make sure their film came back!

As for the dog treats, you guys do have some weird laws about what can happen with unclaimed bodies.

Whoa! Sounds like a creepy movie set about dogs who have been turned into gruesome zombie canines by over-exposure to xrays and have been hidden from public view by a malevolent evil professor who is hiding this vicious breed in the outer Surplus storage building of a hospital, just waiting for a hapless hospital worker to come searching for a few files.....

Definitely a What the?!?

Blessings!

Okay, after Octamom's comment are you ever going back in there? I know my dreams will be looking like a low budget Zombie Dog movie tonight... thanks to you and Ocatmom.

I am so glad that you didn't end up in the morg. Just kiddin', I don't think it is in that building. Actually I am not sure where it is any more.

Before we got married Jay worked at a place that made dog jerky. You think hot dogs are made from the worst parts, well I let you ask him about the dog jerky, yuck.

I know we have disaster boxes in our department, maybe that jerky was part of the box for the storage area.

You are probably lucky to be alive and not stuck in one of those trash cans yourself!

Ew.

Also, I didn't realize you were working in the radiology department. My dad was an X-ray tech, then taught medical radiography up to the day he died. The smell of the X-ray film is one of my faves- reminds me of my dad.
